Domenico Tedesco 'disappointed' by early Bologna dismissal
Domenico Tedesco calls his dismissal from Bologna after just four matches "very disappointing," but acknowledges "that's football." Raffaele Palladino has been appointed as his successor.
The Italo-German coach joined Bologna this summer, following a two-year stint as Belgium's national team manager and a period with Turkish club Fenerbahce.
His tenure proved exceptionally brief, marked by one draw and three Serie A defeats. The club announced his termination this morning.
Tedesco bids farewell to Bologna
"What the club and I discussed will remain private," Tedesco told reporters as he left the Casteldebole training ground. "I can say I received a wonderful welcome in this city and wanted to reciprocate that warmth. I am very disappointed because these people deserve a great deal, but sadly I was only at the stadium twice. The atmosphere there and in the city is fantastic. I thank everyone who welcomed me."
Regarding the reasons for his departure, Tedesco simply stated, "Nothing specific, this is football."
Bologna's sole point under Tedesco came in their 2-2 home draw against local rivals Sassuolo on September 6, the only match where the team scored.
Raffaele Palladino has been appointed as Tedesco's replacement, taking charge of his first training session today. Palladino has signed a contract with the club until June 2029.
