Roma Revises Rodrigo Mora Transfer Terms with FC Porto, Loan with Option Totalling €50 Million
According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma has once again modified their proposed terms for the transfer of Rodrigo Mora from FC Porto. The new offer involves a loan fee of €7 million, with an option to purchase the player outright for an additional €43 million, which could potentially become an obligation.
Mora, who emerged from the Porto youth academy, is keen to secure a more prominent role as a regular starter. His current playing style is reportedly not a perfect fit for FC Porto's coach, Francesco Farioli.
The primary challenge in finalizing the deal lies in structuring a payment plan for the total €50 million valuation that satisfies all parties involved.
Evolving Transfer Negotiations for Mora
Previously, reports indicated that an agreement was close at €25 million for 50% of the player's rights, with an option to acquire the remaining share at the end of the season for another €25 million.
However, recent information from Sky Sport Italia suggests a shift in the negotiation strategy.
Under the latest proposal, Roma would pay €7 million for a one-season loan of Mora, followed by an option to buy for €43 million in June 2027.
This option could convert into a mandatory purchase if specific conditions are met, such as the team achieving European qualification or Mora participating in a certain number of matches.
This approach allows Roma to avoid committing a substantial sum upfront without a guaranteed permanent transfer.
The key sticking point remains the desire of both clubs to have clarity on how the transfer will conclude next summer.
Furthermore, the agreement would preclude Porto from including any buy-back clause.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who also has a tendency to drift wide, could bring valuable creativity to Gian Piero Gasperini's squad.
