Adzic's 'Unforgettable' Last-Minute Winner Against Juventus Mirrors First Goal Milestone

Vasilije Adzic, on loan at Sassuolo, called his winning goal against his parent club Juventus "unforgettable." The midfielder scored with the final kick of the game, securing a 3-2 victory for Sassuolo. This moment occurred precisely one year after Adzic scored his debut goal for Juventus.

The match was tied 2-2 as the clock wound down. Juventus had equalized twice through Edon Zhegrova, responding to goals from Sassuolo's Sebastiano Esposito and Kieron Bowie. In the 94th minute, Darryl Bakola played Adzic through. Adzic maintained his composure in a one-on-one situation against Juventus goalkeeper Douglas Luiz, curling the ball into the net.

Adzic chose not to celebrate the goal out of respect for Juventus, the club that still holds his contract. The timing, however, was a remarkable coincidence.

"It's so strange," Adzic told DAZN Italia. "I missed two chances close to the goal, but I couldn't miss the third, because finishing is meant to be one of my strengths. It’s an unforgettable sensation, because on this day last year I scored my first goal for Juventus, and this time I scored it against my Juve. I’m happy for the team and the extraordinary performance of Sassuolo."

His first goal for Juventus in September 2025 was also a late match-winner, a 4-3 victory against Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia scored in the 91st minute.

Since joining Sassuolo on loan with a purchase option, Adzic has scored twice for his temporary club: once in the Coppa Italia against Cesena and again in last week's 2-2 draw with Bologna. His integration appears to be going well.

"I arrived a month ago and the coach has put a lot of faith in me, which is the most important thing for a young player. When you join a team with many young players, it does help you feel more involved, and we want to keep growing day after day."

When asked if Juventus, currently facing injuries, could benefit from a player of his abilities, Adzic responded with a smile, "I cannot answer that, I’m sorry. I have joined a team that has many young players and wants to grow; it’s important for a player of my age to get consistent time on the field."

Juventus still holds a buy-back option on Adzic, leaving the door open for a potential return.
