Bologna Secures Mikel Amondarain from Estudiantes for €9 Million Plus Bonuses
Bologna has finalized the acquisition of midfielder Mikel Amondarain from Estudiantes. The transfer is reportedly valued at €9 million, with additional performance-based bonuses and a percentage of any future sale included in the agreement.
The 21-year-old player arrived for his medical examinations last night and successfully passed all tests, enabling him to sign his contract today. His new deal with the Stadio Dall'Ara club will run until June 2031.
Amondarain: A New Addition for Bologna
Multiple reports indicate that the total cost of the operation amounts to €9 million, plus further bonuses contingent on his performance. Additionally, Estudiantes will receive 10% of any future transfer fee for Amondarain.
Amondarain becomes the 17th Argentine player to represent Bologna. Coincidentally, another Argentine, Santiago Castro, is undergoing his medical for a €35 million plus add-ons move to Roma today.
The talented midfielder had also been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, specifically Nottingham Forest. However, he has opted to commence his European career in Serie A with Bologna.
During his time at Estudiantes, Amondarain, who rose through their youth academy, scored four goals and provided three assists in 24 appearances.
