Adrien Rabiot to Discuss Future with New Milan Coach Amidst France Team Concerns

Adrien Rabiot intends to have a conversation with the new Milan coach, Ruben Amorim, upon his return from vacation. He also expressed strong disapproval of the 'unacceptable' conduct displayed by some of his France teammates during the World Cup third-place play-off match against England.

Speaking to the media, including Gazzetta dello Sport, after France's 6-4 defeat to England, Rabiot did not hold back in his assessment of the first half, which saw his team trail by four goals at the break.

"It was a disgraceful first half; I witnessed unacceptable behavior," Rabiot stated. "We took to the pitch in what I can only describe as a shameful manner. I saw actions from certain players that I had never encountered before. It was disheartening because it was our final opportunity to leave a positive impression."

"There was significant disappointment following the semi-final against Spain, but we still had a job to complete, and we couldn't be satisfied with ending it in this way," he added.

"At halftime, we had a discussion and agreed that we needed to show some pride. The second half was clearly much improved, because in the first half, some behaviors were unacceptable. We would have preferred to finish with a victory, both for Didier Deschamps and all his staff, but this defeat does not diminish what he has accomplished over the years."

Rabiot will now enjoy a holiday before commencing training with Milan for his second season at the San Siro. "I will be returning to Milan, of course. Then I will speak with the new coach," he confirmed. "Before this, I preferred to concentrate solely on the World Cup and avoid distractions from other matters. These holidays are well-earned. These have been truly taxing days mentally."

Milan recently parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri after failing to secure a Champions League spot in the 2025-26 season and have appointed Ruben Amorim, a former Manchester United manager, as his successor.

Allegri had a strong relationship with Rabiot, having managed him at both Juventus and Milan. The Italian tactician was instrumental in bringing the French midfielder to Milan a year prior. Following his dismissal from Milan, Allegri has since signed a three-year contract with Napoli.
